A motor claim can feel overwhelming, especially straight after an accident. Knowing the process in advance makes it far less stressful.

1. Stay safe and document the scene

Ensure everyone is safe, then photograph the vehicles, damage and surroundings. Note the other party's details.

2. Report promptly

Obtain a police report where required, and notify your advisor as soon as possible. Early notification protects your claim.

3. Submit the claim

With your advisor's help, complete the claim form and gather the supporting documents β€” licence, registration, police report and a repair estimate.

4. Assessment and settlement

The insurer assesses the claim and, once agreed, settles it. A good advisor follows up at each stage and challenges any unfair reduction.

Moonstone manages this entire process on behalf of our clients β€” see our Claims Support service.
